STRUCTURAL ENGINEER – THOMAS L. ADAMS, PE
Tom Adams has performed structural design and threshold inspections for commercial, industrial, institutional, government and custom residential projects throughout his career. Tom’s vast experience in designing structures with many different types of building materials provides CEG clients with efficient, cost effective and competitive design solutions. Tom’s focus on communication with clients in the early stages of design have provided successful, on time, under budget construction projects throughout the years. As an active member of both the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI), Tom’s expertise continually evolves with the “state of the art” design philosophies and building codes in use by the industry today. Tom is also certified by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers as a Special Inspector for threshold type structures.

SELECTED EXPERIENCE:
  • Southeast Toyota Processing Facility, Jacksonville, FL – $60 million dollar car processing facility consisting of administration, accessorization, parts and storage buildings on a 200+ acre site. Long-span structural steel trusses, tilt-up concrete, composite structural steel and shallow foundations.


  • University of North Florida Dormitories, Jacksonville, FL – 3 and 4 story, masonry dormitories, with one-way elevated concrete slab. Each building contained full height, open common space and skylight, with dorms connected by internal balconies and bridges.


  • Gran Park at Deerwood Office Buildings, Jacksonville, FL – Four phases of 4 and 5 story concrete office buildings. Structural framing consisted of concrete columns, beams and frames, with the CECO pan joist system for the slabs. Exterior cladding utilized precast spandrels and column covers with ribbon glass.


  • PGA Tour Productions Facility, St. Augustine, FL – 2 story, 20,000 sf video production facility located at the World Golf Village. Masonry exterior walls with internal composite structural steel framing, supporting cast-in-place concrete floors.


  • Jacksonville Performing Arts Middle School, Jacksonville, FL – 2 story tilt-up concrete panels and structural steel framing for Duval County schools. Project included state of the art “Black Box” theater, cafeteria, gym and EHPF (Emergency Hurricane Protection Facility).


  • Time Warner Communications Renovation, Melbourne, FL – Structural steel renovations for the TWC Melbourne campus. Project consisted of structural steel moment frames for additions to existing structure.


  • Digital Light Production Studio, Melbourne, FL – 25,000 sf production facility comprised of pre-engineered steel frames and roof structure, with conventional steel framed internal mezzanine and exterior tilt-up concrete panels.
